1) The Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary near Jamnagar in Gujarat and Bakhira Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh have been listed as Wetlands of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention, an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands.

2) A crocodile park, first of its kind, was commissioned at Dandeli in Karnataka.

3) A new genus of a parasitic flowering plant has recently been discovered from the Nicobar group of islands.

➨ The parasitic flowering plants have a modified root structure spread on the stem of the tree and are anchored inside the bark of the host tree.


4) Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL), under its modernisation initiatives, has set up 'new bank note printing lines' each at Currency Note Press, Nashik and Bank Note Press, Dewas.


5) Legendary racehorse trainer Rashid Rustomji Byramji (88 years) passed away at Bengaluru. 

➨ He received his trainer's license at the age of 21 from RWITC in May 1955 and retired at the end of the Bangalore Winter season in March 2017.


6) Recognising the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on mental health, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the Centre will be launching a National Tele Mental Health program.


7) The Tata Group has chosen State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank as preferred bankers for Air India, the country's largest international airline that it took over from the government.


8) Lieutenant General C P Mohanty superannuated as Vice Army Chief.

➨Mohanty took charge as Vice Army Chief on February 1 last year. He was heading the Army's Southern Command when he was appointed as Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS).

9) As per economic survey, India's economic growth is expected to remain in the range of 8 to 8.5 per cent in 2022-23 as against a projected growth of 9.2 per cent in the current financial year and a sharp contraction witnessed in 2020-21.


10) The book titled ‘Fearless Governance’ authored by Dr Kiran Bedi, the former Lt Governor of Puducherry and IPS (retd). has been released.

➨ This book is based on the ground realities of nearly five years of service of Dr Bedi as Lt. Governor of Puducherry and her vast experience of 40 years in the Indian Police Service.


11) Announcing an upgrade to the traditional printed passports in circulation currently, the government will issue e-passports, which will use Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and biometrics to verify the identity of the person, in the financial year 2022-23.


12) Delhi has replaced Bengaluru as the startup capital of India, according to the Economic Survey 2021-22 tabled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament.

➨Over 5,000 recognised start-ups were added in Delhi while 4,514 start-ups were added in Bengaluru between April 2019 to December 2021.
