1) The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a new official gazette notification for carving out 13 new districts in the state under the AP Districts Formation Act, Section 3(5).

➨ These have been carved out from the existing 13 districts, bringing the number of districts in the state to 26.

2) Vinodanand Jha, a 1983-batch retired IRS officer has been appointed as the chairperson of the PMLA Adjudicating Authority located in the national capital.

➨ Mr. Jha has been serving as the Member (Finance and Accounts) in the Authority since September 2018.


3) A chunk of a SpaceX rocket that blasted off seven years ago and was abandoned in space after completing its mission will crash into the Moon in March.

➨ The rocket was employed in 2015 to put in orbit a NASA satellite called the Deep Space Climate Observatory.


4) Remembering the lesser-known Indian women who selflessly fought against the British Raj and immensely contributed to India's freedom struggle, a new comic book honoring them was released at the national capital.

➨ The comic book titled ‘India’s Women Unsung Heroes’ was launched by Union Minister for Culture and author Meenakshi Lekhi at IGNCA, New Delhi.



5) On the occasion of Republic Day, 2022, 42 personnel have been awarded Fire Service Medals. Out of these, President's Fire Service Medal for Gallantry is awarded to 01 personnel and Fire Service Medal for Gallantry is awarded to 02 personnel for their respective acts of valour and gallantry.


6) Shri G. Balasubramanian (IFS: 1998), presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.


7) Chhattisgarh has allowed state government employees to work for five days a week.

➨In a slew of announcements on Republic Day, the state government headed by chief minister Bhupesh Baghel also raised the share of the state to 14% from 10% as part of Anshdayi Pension Scheme.

8) India's first innovation centre for graphene will be set up in Kerala by the Digital University Kerala (DUK), along with Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) in Thrissur, for Rs 86.41 crore. This will be the first graphene Research and Development (R&D) incubation centre in the country.

9) A total of 939 police personnel have been awarded medals, including Police Medal for Gallantry, on the occasion of Republic Day 2022. 

➨ Police personnel from Jammu and Kashmir have been awarded 115 Police Medals for Gallantry, the highest number from any police force this year, followed by CRPF with 30, Chhattisgarh Police with 10, Odisha Police with nine, and Maharashtra Police with seven.


10) The Union government officially handed over Air India nearly 69 years after it was taken from the Mumbai-based conglomerate. The handover took place at the airline's headquarters.


11) Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare digitally launched the revamped CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) website (www.cghs.gov.in) and mobile app, MyCGHS.


12) The Assam Government has named industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata for Assam Baibhav, the State’s highest civilian award for his contribution towards furthering cancer care in the state.
