1) India successfully test-fired the Vertically Launched-Short Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) off the coast of Odisha.

➨The air defence system, which can engage targets at around 15 km, is being developed by DRDO for naval warships and the test was done in the presence of senior navy officers.

8) United Arab Emirates announced to change its existing five-day workweek to a four-and-a-half day starting January 1, becoming the world's first country to make the employee-friendly transition as part of its efforts to improve productivity and work-life balance.


9) Sanket Mahadev Sargar won the gold medal in the Men's 55kg snatch category at the ongoing Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2021 in Tashkent. For the top-podium finish, the Indian lifted the weight of 113kg. With this lift, Sargar also created the new snatch national record.


10) To empower India's workforce for a career in cybersecurity, tech giant Microsoft launched a cybersecurity skilling programme that aims to skill over 1 lakh Indians by 2022.


11) The Centre has approved the production of over five lakh AK-203 assault rifles at Korwa in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi in order to boost self-reliance in defence manufacturing in the country.
