1) Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman, who was held captive for three days by Pakistan after he chased and downed a Pakistani fighter jet in 2019, was awarded Vir Chakra, third highest wartime gallantry award, by President Ram Nath Kovind.

2) President Kovind presented Shaurya Chakra to Shri Sable Dnyaneshwar Shriram, Constable, 53 BN CRPF, Baramulla, J&K. 

➨He showed exemplary bravery, raw grit and extraordinary commitment to duty under extreme adversity, in keeping with the highest traditions of the CRPF.

3) US Vice President Kamala Harris became the first woman with presidential power in the US, when President Joe Biden temporarily transferred power to her.

➨The power transfer took place while Biden was under anaesthesia for a routine colonoscopy for one hour and 25 minutes. 

4) In recognition of its initiatives in Digital Financial Services in response to 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', KVG Bank was adjudged Best Regional Rural Bank under 'Regional Rural Banks Category' by ASSOCHAM, Mumbai.

5) President Ram Nath Kovind presented Shaurya Chakra to Shri Subash Chander, Head Constable, J&K Police.

6) Two Indian teenage brothers have won the 2021 KidsRights International Children's Peace Prize for tackling pollution from household waste.

➨ Vihaan (17) and Nav Agarwal (14) have developed the "One Step Greener" initiative segregating recyclables and organising pickups for trash from thousands of homes.

7) President Kovind presented Shaurya Chakra to Rifleman Ajveer Singh Chauhan, 6th Battalion, Garhwal Rifles.

➨President Kovind also presented Shaurya Chakra to Constable Zaker Hussain, CRPF.

8) President Kovind presents Kirti Chakra to Sapper Prakash Jadhav (Posthumous), First Battalion, Rashtriya Rifles. 

➨He displayed conspicuous gallantry, exemplary courage beyond the call of duty and made supreme sacrifice in eliminating a terrorist in Jammu & Kashmir.

9) Manipur Governor La Ganesan conferred the 12th Manipur State Award for Literature to Beryl Thanga alias Laishram Biramangol (65) for his book 'Ei Amadi Adungeigi Ithat', a novel published in 2015 .

10) With an aim to give more thrust for sports in the state, Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai have inaugurated Indian National Basketball League (INBL) in Bengaluru.
