1) Haryana Government has set up India's first 'Grain ATM' as a pilot project in Gurugram.

The newly installed machines can remove about 70 kg of grain in a time of five to seven minutes. Consumers waiting in long queues to get ration outside will get relief from ATM

2) With an aim to boost the production of crops in India, Parag Narvekar, a former NASA scientist has developed an economical sensor in Nashik. The sensor, which used to cost Rs 1.5 lakh, can now be procured by the farmers of the country for Rs 10,000.

3) Sports Minister Anurag Thakur launched the song 'Cheer4India' of the country's Olympic contingent and urged the public to rally wholeheartedly with their athletes during the Tokyo Games.


^ Grammy Award winning composer A.R. Rahman and young singer Ananya Birla collaborated to present the official song of the Indian contingent for the Tokyo Olympics, titled "Cheer4India: Hindustani Way".

4) Sports brand Puma has signed sponsorship deals with 18 Indian athletes ahead of the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games. With this strategic move, the sports brand has added athletes like boxer Pooja Rani, track and field athlete Tejinder Singh, shooter Manu Bhaker and swimmer Srihari Natraj to its roster.


5) China has officially started construction of the world's first commercial modular small reactor 'Linglong One' at Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant in the country's Hainan province, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).


6) Researchers at IIT Mandi have developed a computational model for automated disease detection using leaf images in potato crops.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques are used to uncover diseased parts of the leaf in collaboration with Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla led by Srikant Srinivasan, Associate Professor, School of Computing and Electrical Engineering, IIT Mandi.



7) The cabinet approved a hike of 11 per cent in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central government employees and pensioners with effect from July 1.

With this, the new rate of DA will increase from 17 percent to 28 percent. The DA and DR were frozen last year due to the pandemic gripping the country.


8) India will host the World Badminton Championships in 2026. India was supposed to host the Sudirman Cup in 2023, but the Badminton World Federation decided to give China the hosting rights of the World Mixed Team Championships.

This will be only the second time that India will host the World Championships, with Hyderabad hosting the prestigious event in 2009.


9) Union Minister Piyush Goyal was appointed as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha. Goyal replaces Thawar Chand Gehlot, who recently moved to Karnataka as the governor of the state after a cabinet reshuffle.


10) Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the first copy of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Ramayana book written by Late Baljit Kaur Tulsi, mother of Rajya Sabha MP and eminent lawyer KTS Tulsi.


KTS Tulsi himself handed over the book to PM Modi in the presence of his daughter Japna Tulsi and granddaughter Mukti Tulsi. This book is published by Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.

11) The Government of Kerala is all set to launch a campaign called 'Mathru Kavacham' to make available vaccines for COVID-19 to all pregnant women in the state.


Under the campaign, all pregnant women will be registered for vaccination at the ward level by ASHA workers. Those who can register themselves will be encouraged to do so.

12) Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba is the new Prime Minister of Nepal.

The 75-year-old centrist politician was administered the oath of office by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, a day after Nepal's Supreme Court said in a dramatic judgment that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had violated constitutional principles.

 

13) Journalist and playwright Omcheri N N Pillai has been selected for the Bahrain Kerala Society (BKS) Literary Award 2021.

The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation acknowledging the achievement.


14) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday barred MasterCard Asia Pacific from July 22, 2021 to new debit, credit or prepaid card customers for failing to comply with their data storage.
